Apex Companies seeks a Senior Project Manager for transportation design and delivery in our Providence, RI Transportation Practice, offering a hybrid role with autonomy and impact.

Lead design and bid document work, oversee budgets and schedules, mentor staff, and collaborate with clients and agencies. A PE license and 12+ years in transportation engineering are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering.
• 12+ years of experience in transportation engineering including roadway design and project management.
• Broad understanding of transportation design and planning standards, specifically state agencies submission processes (MassDOT, RIDOT, NHDOT).
• Professional Engineering License.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and manage projects, budgets, and schedules.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain positive client relations.
• Strong collaboration and mentoring skills.
• Strong AutoCAD and Civil 3D skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct the preparation of design and construction bid documents for transportation projects.
• Effectively present at meetings with clients and the public.
• Maintain project financials, budgets, schedules, and progress.
• Manage/mentor staff and allocate workloads; provide issue resolution.
• Prepare project scopes and budgets for proposals and contracts.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with a background in the design and management of transportation projects for a hybrid role in our Providence, RI Transportation Practice.

Primary Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct the preparation of design and construction bid documents for transportation (roadway) projects involving multi-modal accommodations (Complete Streets) including corridor, intersection, and downtown improvements
• Effectively present at meetings with clients and the public
• Maintain project financials/budgets, schedules, and project advancement
• Manage/mentor staff and provide guidance, manage workloads, and provide issue resolution
• Prepare project scopes and budgets for proposals and contracts
• Maintain communication with clients including municipalities and regional agencies

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
• 12 + years of experience in the transportation engineering field including roadway design and project management
• Broad understanding of transportation design and planning standards, specifically standards and submission processes for state agencies, such as MassDOT, RIDOT, or NHDOT.
• Professional Engineering License
• Demonstrated effectiveness in planning and managing projects as well as maintaining budgets and schedules,
• Must be skilled at building and maintaining positive client relations.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.
• Effective at managing and mentoring staff
• Strong AutoCAD and Civil 3D skills
