Senior Transportation Engineer - Traffic & ITS

Location: Santa Ana, CA, USA (On-site) Salary Range: $118,000 - $140,000 Sign-On Bonus Available

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Transportation Engineer to join a team of professionals committedto delivering smart, data-driven transportation solutions. This role involves working closely with local and regionalagencies to lead and support a variety of traffic engineering and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead or support a wide range of projects including traffic signal operations, signal timing, and ITS design,implementation, and integration.
• Collaborate directly with internal senior management and agency clients to ensure successful project delivery.
• Participate in local and regional business development initiatives to support growth.
• Foster strong client relationships and promote strategic thinking to ensure high client retention.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to training and professional development efforts.
• Assist in defining client needs and develop tailored proposals and delivery plans.
• Support coordination meetings and consult regularly with engineering and planning colleagues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Transportation Planning, or a related field.
• A PE (Professional Engineer), PTOE (Professional Traffic Operations Engineer), or IMSA certification is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years managing projects and mentoring junior staff for public agency clients.
• Proficiency in tools such as Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM, AutoCAD , or MicroStation .
