We’re partnered with a growing civil engineering firm in South Florida to hire a Senior Roadway Engineer / Project Manager. This person will play a key role in leading roadway projects supporting FDOT and local municipalities, while also mentoring engineers and supporting long‑term team growth and succession planning.
This is a strong fit for a PE who enjoys balancing hands‑on technical leadership with project ownership and client engagement.

Salary: Up to $170K base (based on experience + semiannual bonus
Must Haves
- Active Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 6+ years of progressive roadway engineering experience supporting FDOT and local municipalities
- Strong working knowledge of:
- FDOT standards
- Florida Green Book
- AASHTO guidelines
- Demonstrated experience working with South Florida counties and cities
- Proficiency with OpenRoads, MicroStation, and 3D modeling
- Hands‑on experience across:
- Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)
- Civil, site, land development, and drainage design
- Ability to lead and mentor engineers in an understaffed or growing team environment
- Scoping and fee development
- Client communication
- Coordination with municipalities, utilities, and regulatory agencies
- Strong balance of technical leadership and project management
Nice to Have
- Experience with traffic signal design
- Background partnering closely with land development teams
- Prior experience leading junior engineers or project engineers
- Experience stepping into roles tied to succession planning or retirement backfill
- Strong client‑facing presence with proven issue‑resolution skills
Day to Day
- Serve as a Senior Roadway Engineer / Project Manager supporting team growth and succession planning
- Lead project teams of in‑house engineers and subconsultants
- Maintain a 50/50 split between:
- Technical roadway design leadership
- Project management and client engagement
- Prepare roadway and drainage design plans, permits, and construction documents
- Oversee MOT plans and roadway‑related civil design
- Manage project scope, fees, schedules, and deliverables
- Act as the primary technical escalation point for clients and agencies
- Train and mentor engineers while delegating production work appropriately
- Support projects across multiple South Florida office locations
