Job summary

Felsburg Holt & Ullevig (FHU) seeks a Senior Engineer to lead multidisciplinary transportation projects in Utah while expanding the firm’s presence across service areas. You will build client relationships, pursue high-impact opportunities, and drive growth regionally.

You are a seasoned professional with 10+ years in transportation and a track record of winning public-sector work, including leading proposals and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., civil engineering, urban/transportation planning, environmental sciences, etc.)
• 10+ years of experience in the transportation industry, with 5+ years of proven project management experience
• Strong, established network in Colorado with a record of winning and delivering transportation work
• Proven experience leading proposals and winning work across public-sector clients
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate across internal departments
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary projects within the transportation civil design group while advancing FHU’s presence in Utah
• Build client relationships, pursue high-impact opportunities, and drive growth across the region
• Manage the successful delivery of projects in the transportation civil design group, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget expectations are met
• Collaborate with practice leaders and technical staff to deliver integrated solutions
• Provide strong client service and cultivate long-term partnerships through consistent communication and problem-solving
• Lead or contribute to project scoping, budgeting, and QA/QC reviews
• Be a technical resource for junior staff and an industry expert in transportation civil design areas
• Assist in executing a regional business development strategy aligned with FHU’s goals
• Leverage established relationships with public agencies, municipalities, CDOT, and private sector clients to generate leads and secure work
• Engage in networking events, professional associations, and industry conferences to elevate FHU’s visibility
• Identify and track leads, support go/no-go decisions, and lead proposal strategy and development
• Coordinate and lead pursuit teams, including premarketing, interviews, scoping and contract negotiations
• Mentor junior staff in client engagement and pursuit strategies
• Act as a local ambassador of FHU’s mission and values and contribute to a positive office culture
• Partner with Office Leads and Regional Directors on strategic hires and staff development
• Inspire and develop the next generation of leaders through guidance and mentorship

Your Role

Primary Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Management

• Manage the successful delivery of projects inthe transportation civil design group, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget expectations are met.

• Collaborate with practice leaders and technical staff across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.

• Provide strong client service and cultivate long-term partnerships through consistent communication and problem-solving.

• Lead or contribute to project scoping, budgeting, and QA/QC reviews.

• Bea technical resource for junior staff and an industry expert in specific technical areas within the transportation civil design group

Business Development & Strategic Growth

• Assist in executing a regional business development strategy aligned with FHU’s goals.

• Leverage your established relationships with public agencies, municipalities,CDOT, and/or private sector clients to generateprojectleads and secure new work.

• Actively engage in networking events, professional associations, and industry conferences to elevate FHU’s visibility.

Required:

Preferred:

• Professional Engineer license

• Cross-disciplinary awareness of transportation-related services and funding sources

The pay for this position has a range of $125,000 - $175,000 annually. The actual offer will carefully consider a range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, we are currently offering a substantial sign-on bonus for this role.
