Job summary

Saputo Cheese USA Inc. is seeking a Transportation Planner to analyze distribution plans and optimize freight for truckload and LTL orders. You will work with customer service, plants, DC personnel and carriers to ensure on-time delivery and cost efficiency.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or related field and 3–5 years in transportation, with strong communication, planning and analytical skills. This position is hybrid: four days in office and one day remote.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex distribution plans to support load planning for truckload and LTL orders.
• Route shipments to meet delivery requirements for each customer load.
• Identify optimal freight solutions to improve efficiency and metrics.
• Mentor/train new load planners and cover for team absences.
• Analyze data to identify cost-effective transportation improvements.
• Generate and analyze reports from TMS/ERP.
• Coordinate with customer service, plants, DCs and carriers to resolve issues.
• Plan pickups for purchased products and interplant movements to Saputo DCs.
• Proactively prevent service issues and improve carrier performance.
• Build relationships with major carriers and resolve rerouting or in-transit issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyze complex distribution plans to support load planning operations for all truckload and LTL orders, identify opportunities to consolidate orders into multi-stop truckloads
• Routing shipments to accommodate delivery requirements of each individual customer load
• Consistently identifies optimal freight solutions to achieve desired results through operational efficiency, in driving transportation metrics such as payload utilization, late deliveries impact, on-time performance and saving initiatives
• Mentor/train new load planners
• Provide coverage for absence of other members of the Transportation planning team
• Assist Transportation managers in analyzing data to identify and implement cost effective solutions
• Analyze historical data trends to guide in future operational efficiencies
• Generate and analyze daily/weekly/period reports as required from TMS/ERP
• Provide best in class quality transportation services for both internal and external customers while, working closely with customer service representatives, plant, and DC personnel & carriers to resolve service issues
• Transportation plan for pickup of purchased products and interplant movements to Saputo Distribution Centers
• Proactively find ways to prevent service issues and/or continuously improve carrier performance
• Develop strong working relationships with largest carriers and resolves any carrier issues including rerouting loads, in transit related issues, support overage, shortage, damage (OS&D), etc

EXPERIENCE & QULIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business or related field or equivalent job experience
• Minimum of 3-5 years experience in the transportation field
• Transportation operations experience required
• Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) experience is preferred
• Strong communication, planning, analytical, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
• Experience participating on cross-functional teams
• Ability to develop relationships with all levels of management

Salary range: $73,815- 92,000Salary offers will vary commensurate with experience, education, skills and training.Hybrid office: 4 days in office, 1 day remote
