Job summary

Stanford University is seeking a Sr. Research Scientist to initiate and manage collaborative cancer therapeutics projects in a dynamic lab at the Gray Laboratory. The role involves supervising ~10 trainees and coordinating with medicinal chemists to design and synthesize candidate therapeutics.

The successful candidate will lead project planning, establish data reporting standards, publish findings, and contribute to major translational science efforts with internal and external partners.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in biological sciences is required.
• Five years post-Ph.D. experience and strong publication record.
• Experience in project and people management is required.
• Strong organizational, writing and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee experiments, researchers, and maintain detailed records of outcomes.
• Plan experiments for research projects based on scientific theory.
• Contribute to publications and grant applications; prepare procedures and proposals.
• Review literature regularly to stay current with new procedures.
• Oversee facility maintenance; manage instrumentation and consumables.
• Train and orient new staff or students in lab procedures.
• Apply life science methods to interpret results; suggest procedural modifications.
