Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking an Advanced Team Sergeant for statewide operations within the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The role supports training coordination, curriculum development, and supervision of instructors across basic, in-service, and advanced programs.

The position requires a high school diploma and SC Class I LE Officer certification, with additional instructor certifications to be obtained within one year. Overnight travel may be required for special assignments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• Must hold SC Class I Law Enforcement Officer certification.
• Must obtain Basic Instructor Development and other instructor certifications within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, plan, and execute required training at basic, in-service, and advanced levels.
• Develop and deliver in-service curriculum and supervise training administration.
• Mentor instructors and supervise classroom management and presentation.
• Instruct classes for Basic, In-Service, and other specialized training.
• Research trends and develop training programs for patrol and supervisory duties.
• Investigate traffic collisions and enforce motor vehicle laws as needed.
• Support civil defense, emergency preparedness, and public protection duties.
