Job summary

The City of Annapolis seeks a Traffic Technician II to lead the Traffic Maintenance crew, performing advanced installation, troubleshooting, and repair of signals, signs, and pavement markings. You will lay out street layouts, analyze traffic counter data, fabricate signs, coordinate with utilities, and participate in emergency responses and snow operations, with a strong focus on safety.

Qualifications

Advanced ability to troubleshoot and repair electro-mechanical and solid-state traffic signal devices.
Thorough knowledge of MUTCD, ITE standards, NEC, and local ordinances.
Skill in sheet metal fabrication and roadway layout for pavement striping.
Ability to read blueprints/schematics and analyze traffic counter data.
Knowledge of work zone safety procedures and electrical trade practices.
Visual acuity to distinguish color spectrum for wiring and signals.

Responsibilities

Lead Traffic Maintenance crew and supervise temporary and junior personnel.
Install, diagnose, repair, and modify traffic signals, signs, and pavement markings.
Layout streets for pavement markings and operate line striping equipment.
Monitor and analyze data from traffic counters (tube and video).
Fabricate and install traffic signs and related hardware; coordinate with utilities.
Coordinate safety in work zones and perform flagging as needed.
Maintain equipment and assist with snow removal and emergency responses.
