Job summary

MnDOT in Roseville, CA is seeking an Engineering Specialist Senior to advisory role to state engineers, shaping traffic signal design and operation standards, policies, and procedures. Qualifications

• Three years of experience at Engineering Specialist level or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of contract documents, construction practices, procedures, and materials related to signal systems.
• Knowledge and application of MnMUTCD.
• Knowledge and application of Signal Design and Signal Operations.
• Knowledge of MnDOT design standards, plan content, and organization.
• Ability to research, evaluate, and draw conclusions on traffic electrical systems procedures and materials.
• Knowledge and application of general electrical and electronic principles.
• Knowledge and application of Windows based office software applications.
• Strong technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise the Assistant State Signal and Lighting Engineer and the State Signal and Lighting Engineer on statewide traffic control signal systems and related electrical designs.
• Write, recommend, and develop MnDOT traffic electrical systems construction and design standards, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain, recommend, and write MnDOT's approved product specifications.
• Research and analyze new products, materials, and construction methods for statewide use.
• Lead and participate in signal and lighting training coordination and instruction.
• Represent the Central Office Traffic Engineering Signal and Lighting Unit in outside discussions and committees.
