Job summary

State of Michigan in Pontiac is seeking a senior-level Traffic Safety Engineer to lead safety engineering efforts within the Transportation Service Center. The role focuses on reducing crashes and crash severity by analyzing data, identifying hazards, and improving geometry and signing/pavement markings.

You will coordinate with regional teams, Lansing, and the FHWA to ensure timely MDOT service delivery. Candidates should have a BS in engineering (civil preferred) and 3+ years of transportation

Qualifications

• Bachelor of science in engineering required.
• Civil engineering degree preferred.
• Three years of professional engineering experience in transportation systems and programs, including one year at Transportation Engineer 9-12 level.
• Professional Engineer license may substitute for 6 months of experience.

Responsibilities

• Reduce crashes and crash severity in the TSC area by analyzing crash data and identifying hazards.
• Improve highway geometry and ensure proper signing and pavement markings.
• Maintain alignment within the region, with Lansing, and with FHWA.
• Meet tight deadlines to ensure successful MDOT services and products.
