Job summary

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil or Transportation Engineering required.
• P.E. licensure required.
• 5+ years of traffic engineering/traffic planning experience, with DOT experience strongly desired.
• Experience planning, scheduling, coordinating, and conducting transportation and traffic engineering work.
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles applied to traffic and transportation projects.
• Ability to explain, persuade, and negotiate critical project issues.
• Ability to build and maintain excellent interpersonal relationships.
• Proficiency in Synchro, Excel, and OpenRoads; knowledge of HCS, SIDRA, VISSIM, ArcGIS, CUBE, and TransCAD desirable.
• Strong understanding of DOT policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate transportation engineering work, including analyses and studies.
• Prepare engineering reports, plans, specifications for major projects.
• Produce engineering drawings based on calculations; check, interpret, and revise drawings.
• Prepare project plans, technical specifications, contracts, and cost estimates.
• Prepare informational materials to communicate projects to stakeholders and the public.
• Supervise less experienced engineers and support personnel within a project team.
• Coordinate projects with clients, contractors, outside consultants, and firm staff.
• Communicate effectively with project team members, client representatives, and review agencies.
• Prepare project scope, schedules, and budgets; assist in overall project management.
