Job summary

Charles Schwab is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Chicago to design, build, and maintain high-performance distributed systems. You will work across engineering, architecture, product, and platform teams to deliver scalable trading solutions with automation and AI-assisted tooling.

The role requires strong C#/.NET expertise, experience with Kafka/RabbitMQ, and a solid background in cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure/PCF) plus CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of enterprise technology experience in application development using C#/.NET
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
• Strong experience building high-performance distributed systems and services
• Experience with messaging/event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure/PCF/Kubernetes)
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, and modern delivery practices
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, architecture, infrastructure and networking
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (SQL Server, MongoDB, Redis, etc.)
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted engineering tools and intelligent automation
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and continuous delivery
