Job summary

North American Rail Solutions (NARS) seeks an experienced Track Specialist to oversee on-track inspections and ensure compliance with FRA Track Safety Standards. The senior inspector will monitor track functionality, identify deviations, and prescribe remedial actions in coordination with field leadership.

The role requires 2+ years operating hi-rail equipment and 3+ years in railroad construction/maintenance, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• Associates degree or equivalent is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• 2+ years experience operating a hi-rail truck and performing on-track inspections.
• 3+ years experience railroad construction, repair, and maintenance.
• Ability to operate heavy machinery.
• Knowledge of rail maintenance and/or commercial construction operations.
• FRA Track Safety Standards knowledge and experience with on-track inspections.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct periodic track inspections to cover the territory and ensure FRA Class 1 compliance.
• Perform on-ground inspections to assess defects and determine corrective actions.
• Inspect track structure for compliance with federal and state regulations and company policy.
• Identify deviations from regulations and communicate with Area manager for remediation.
• Prepare inspection reports for management and regulatory bodies.
• Conduct special inspections during severe weather or events and follow-up as needed.
• Assist in expanding market opportunities and support regional growth plans.
• Support key customer relationships and assist in closing strategic opportunities.
