Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Threat Intelligence Engineer to automate tracking of sophisticated cyber threats and deliver actionable intelligence to stakeholders. You will model threat landscapes in Vertex Synapse and present findings to executives, while building strategic relationships across intelligence communities.

The role requires 5+ years in threat intel or related fields, proficiency in Python/Go and SQL, and responsible use of AI to improve efficiency and outcomes.

• Track record of independently identifying high-priority threats and leading investigations.
• Skilled in OSINT research across a wide range of topics.
• Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency.

Security is a primary competency at Coinbase, and the Threat Intelligence team within Security Operations keeps a watchful eye over every aspect of it. As a Senior Threat Intelligence Engineer, you'll combine deep technical expertise in tracking sophisticated adversaries with innovative AI engineering to protect billions of dollars in digital assets. You'll turn internal and external signals into durable detections and actionable intelligence, partnering across the entire organization to bring insights directly to the stakeholders who make risk-based decisions.

Required Skills and Experience

• 5+ years in operational threat intelligence, incident response, security research, or cyber investigations

• Proficient in at least one programming language (e.g., Python or Go) and SQL for data analysis, scripting, or tooling development

• Proven ability to translate complex technical threat analysis into clear, actionable intelligence briefs for both technical and executive audiences

• Track record of independently identifying high-priority threats, self-directing investigations, and building solutions with minimal oversight

• Skilled in conducting open-source intelligence (OSINT) research across a wide range of topics

• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

$180,370—$212,200 USD
