Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Staff Threat Detection Engineer to stay ahead of evolving cyber threats through detection engineering, threat hunting, and offensive security practices. You will leverage telemetry, threat intel, and adversary emulation to strengthen security controls across the organization.

You will collaborate with Security Operations and Incident Response, develop detections for SIEMs like Microsoft Sentinel and Splunk, and contribute to purple team exercises and automation

Qualifications

• 7+ years in threat detection, hunting, testing, or offensive security.
• 5+ years using Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, CrowdStrike, and Splunk.
• 3+ years scripting (Python, PowerShell, or Bash) for automation and detection logic.

Responsibilities

• Develop, deploy and optimize detections across SIEM platforms.
• Conduct threat hunting with Defender and CrowdStrike to identify advanced threats.
• Create detections with KQL and SPL and automate responses.
• Lead purple team exercises bridging offensive and defensive security.
• Integrate threat intel to refine detection strategies.
• Support incident response during investigations with adversary insights.
