Job summary

Vast in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Senior Test Engineer, Thermal Control Systems to own and drive the full lifecycle of thermal test campaigns for space habitats. This exempt, full-time role reports to the Manager, Thermal Test Engineering and focuses on design verification, test planning, data analysis, and ensuring safety and quality across programs.

Candidates should have a bachelor’s in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering with 5+ years in thermal or fluid test environments, CAD NX

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field with 5+ years in thermal or fluid systems, and test engineering in aerospace or similar environments.
• Strong foundation in fluid systems, test instrumentation, safety protocols, and troubleshooting.
• Experience owning and executing test campaigns end-to-end, including CONOP, GSE design, test execution, and data analysis.
• Proficiency in CAD (Siemens NX) for reviewing designs and creating documentation.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive full lifecycle of thermal control system test campaigns of moderate complexity from CONOP through data closeout.
• Perform hands-on assembly, integration, instrumentation, and testing of thermal and fluid systems.
• Develop and maintain detailed test plans, procedures, and manufacturing plans with traceability.
• Collaborate with thermal design, analysis, systems, and manufacturing teams to inform manufacturability and testability.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical issues via root cause analysis.
• Provide technical input in design and test reviews and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Mentor junior engineers and help standardize test practices within the team.
