Job summary

Johnson Controls in the United States seeks an experienced Thermal Systems Engineer / Senior Thermal Engineer to advance next-generation CDU products for data center cooling. You will apply expertise in thermal engineering, heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid systems, HVAC, and heat exchanger design across the full product lifecycle.

Responsibilities include designing cooling systems, performing thermal analyses, developing system-level models, and collaborating with controls and manufacturing

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Thermal Systems Engineering or mechanical product development.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical/Thermal/Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Strong knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics, HVAC systems, and thermal modeling.
• Experience with the complete product development lifecycle.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills using engineering data.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop thermal management and cooling systems, including CDUs, heat exchangers, pumps, and dry coolers.
• Perform thermal calculations, heat transfer analysis, fluid flow modeling, and performance validation.
• Develop system-level thermal models and optimize cooling system performance.
• Support product development from concept through design, testing, manufacturing, and production release.
• Conduct engineering trade-off studies involving performance, cost, manufacturability, and reliability.
• Collaborate with controls engineers to develop operational logic, pump control strategies, and system optimization.
• Support manufacturing, localization, and design-for-manufacturing initiatives across global production sites.
• Participate in design verification, validation, and production readiness activities.
