Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a senior Thermal Engineer to lead thermal analysis for the MK1 Lunar Lander. You will develop models, run cases from launch to lunar surface, post-process results, and publish reports to guide design decisions.

You’ll mentor junior analysts and present findings to stakeholders within a strong safety‑driven culture. Requirements include a BS in mechanical or aerospace engineering, 8+ years’ experience, and proficiency with Thermal Desktop, SINDA/FLUINT, and ANSYS Workbench.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of relevant Thermal Engineering/Analysis experience.
  • Experience designing and analyzing thermal control systems in space/aerospace.
  • Strong understanding of heat transfer, fluid flow, and thermodynamics as applied to spacecraft thermal control.

Responsibilities

  • Collect inputs from stakeholders and engineers.
  • Develop new or modified thermal analysis models for vehicle configurations.
  • Create analysis cases to evaluate thermal performance in worst-case conditions.
  • Analyze thermal performance using methods from hand calculations to Thermal Desktop models.
  • Post process results to draw engineering conclusions.
  • Publish analysis reports to support engineering decisions.
  • Generate and present design review content to partners and customers.
  • Mentor junior thermal analysts.
