Job summary

The City of Alexandria is seeking an Emergency Services Senior Therapist (Court Coordinator) to provide critical assessments, crisis interventions, and psychiatric stabilization for individuals in Alexandria city limits. The role delivers direct crisis care via telephone, telehealth, and in-person evaluations, and serves as Court Coordinator for civil commitment hearings.

This full-time position also manages the Mandatory Outpatient Treatment (MOT) caseload, maintains precise clinical records,

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in human services and Virginia license eligibility.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with professionals and the public.
• Experience supervising interns or students.

Responsibilities

• Assess and determine appropriate level of response for incoming calls.
• Interview and evaluate individuals in crisis; perform mental status exams and risk assessments.
• Coordinate civil commitment proceedings and the MOT program.
• Maintain precise clinical records in full compliance with Federal, State, City, and Departmental standards.
• Provide continuity of care during non-business hours and crisis triage.
