Job description

Application close date: Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed. At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

Blue Origin is pioneering the future of space-based communications with TeraWave, a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This multi-orbit constellation will consist of optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations worldwide.

As part of the Spacecraft Bus Avionics team, you will be responsible for driving requirements, design, analysis, test, and critical review of avionics and assemblies which house electronic components. This role requires expertise and training for the avionics team. You will play a key role in developing the TeraWave Satellite system from concept through formal qualification and verification including integration and flight support activities. Passion for our mission and vision is required. If you’re excited by providing both near term and long-term value, solving novel problems, learning about interesting topics, and completing challenging projects,

  • Develop and maintain the avionics electrical test hardware, test plan, andverification cross-reference matrix for a spaceflight avionics component.
  • Derive electrical test requirements from system specifications, ICD’s, schematics, and safety requirements.
  • Specify and design avionics test equipment to meet manufacturing rate.
  • Coordinatecross functionally with Systems Engineers, Production Engineers, and Design Engineers to define interface test requirements
  • Own hardware test procedure development, review, and approval workflows from initial draft through qualification and acceptance.
  • Lead bench-level, vehicle level and pre-launch electrical test campaigns including power-on, functional verification, end to end harness continuity and EMI/EMC testing
  • Lead anomaly investigation and resolution for electrical test discrepancies; drive root cause analysis and corrective action through closure
  • Partner with manufacturing and production engineering early in the design cycle to ensure test infrastructures integrates seamlessly with production flow, tooling, and vehicle build sequence.
  • Identify and drive test automation, instrumentation, and data acquisition infrastructure to reduce overall cycle time.
  • Design electrical testand support equipmentwith production scalability in mind, ensuring test architectures support repeatable, high-throughput execution across multiple vehicles.
  • Designelectrical test interfaces for producibility, including standardized GSE connectors, modular test racks, etc., to support rate increases without redesign.
  • Drive a production mindset into the electrical test program; track unit-to-unit test time, first pass yield, anomaly rate, as indicators of production readiness.
