Job summary

Divergent in Torrance, CA, is seeking a seasoned Test Engineer to ensure safety, durability, and performance of complex hardware on the shop floor. You’ll design test fixtures in Siemens NX, plan and execute structural tests with MTS equipment, and partner with design, manufacturing, materials and quality teams to drive robust validation processes.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in mechanical design, manufacturing or structural testing, strong CAD skills, and hands‑on experience with load cells,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years in mechanical design, manufacturing engineering, or structural test engineering.
• Proficiency in CAD (Siemens NX).
• Hands-on with mechanical assembly, hydraulic actuators, and instrumentation (Load Cells/Strain Gauges).
• Experience with data acquisition systems such as Dewesoft or NI FlexLogger.
• Strong communication, documentation, and project coordination skills.
• Self-motivated, organized in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Responsibilities

• Design custom test fixtures, rigs, tooling, and mechanical assemblies using Siemens NX.
• Produce detailed drawings, GD&T, build instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
• Lead test planning, procedures, and schedules for validation projects.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, materials, and quality teams to define test requirements.
• Analyze test data to evaluate component performance and sign off on specs.
• Maintain complete test documentation and ensure compliance with standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve test methods and lab workflows.
• Uphold safety protocols in the lab and perform risk assessments.
