Job summary

GCyber is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to verify secure digital capabilities in a classified federal IT modernization program. You will define test strategies, automate tests with ServiceNow ATF, and lead testing across multiple components in an Agile environment.

Required TS/SCI clearance, DoD 8570/8140 IAT II certs, and 8–12 years of experience. On-site work at a secure DC facility with partial telework during initial phases is expected.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI security clearance required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Eight to twelve years of relevant experience in test engineering.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements, designs, interfaces, and user stories to ensure capabilities are testable.
• Define test strategies, plans, procedures, and acceptance criteria for ServiceNow and integrated systems.
• Develop automated tests using ServiceNow ATF and other approved tools.
• Execute functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end tests.
• Document results and traceability in Jira; support release readiness and validation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve defects and improve built-in quality.
• Lead testing for assigned capabilities and coordinate across components.
• Mentor junior testers and improve automation coverage.

Job description

GCyber is seeking a Senior Test Engineer, to help support a mission-focused federal IT modernization effort that is building and integrating secure digital capabilities in a classified environment. The program uses an Agile delivery model and a technology environment centered on ServiceNow, Elastic, AWS, Red Hat, and supporting integration technologies such as Kafka. The Senior Test Engineer will verify and validate secure digital capabilities across ServiceNow and connected systems while advancing automation and built-in quality in an Agile delivery environment.

As the Senior Test Engineer, you will

• Analyze requirements, designs, interfaces, and user stories to ensure capabilities are complete and testable.
• Define test strategies, plans, procedures, test data, acceptance criteria, and expected results for ServiceNow and integrated system capabilities.
• Develop automated tests using ServiceNow Automated Test Framework and other approved test tools.
• Execute functional, integration, regression, configuration, end-to-end, operational, and user acceptance test activities.
• Document results, defects, anomalies, risks, and configuration changes in Jira and maintain the validation portion of requirements traceability.
• Support sprint planning, reviews, demonstrations, release readiness, customer acceptance, and post-deployment validation.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, configuration management, DevSecOps, cybersecurity, and customer stakeholders to resolve defects and improve built-in quality.
• Lead testing for assigned capabilities or releases and coordinate test execution across dependent components.
• Review test cases and evidence, mentor less-experienced testers, and recommend improvements to automation and regression coverage.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

• Active TS/SCI security clearance
• Ability to obtain and maintain any additional customer suitability approvals required for the position.
• DoD 8570/8140 IAT II certification (i.e., Security+, CCNA-Security, CND, CySA+, GISCP, GSEC, SSC)
• Early-stage flexibility with partial telework during initial development phases
• Full-time on-site presence at secure facility in Washington, DC will be required as the program matures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across technical, operational, security, and customer teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
• Eight to twelve years of relevant experience
• Demonstrated experience leading test design and execution for complex software, cloud, integration, or mission systems.
• Experience with test automation, test data management, DevOps or CI tools, source control, and Agile software delivery.
• Ability to analyze application behavior, interfaces, logs, configurations, and code sufficiently to isolate technical defects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on ServiceNow administration, configuration, or development experience and familiarity with ATF.
• Experience with ServiceNow Discovery, Event Management, Service Mapping, custom applications, scripting, or workflows.
• Experience with AWS, Elastic, Kafka, Jira, Confluence, ITIL, SAFe, performance testing, security testing, or test-management tools.
• Relevant testing certification such as ISTQB or ServiceNow certification.
