Job summary

Columbus McKinnon is seeking a Senior Test Engineer in Wisconsin to design, specify, and procure equipment and software for testing products in accordance with company policies. You will lead high impact NPD projects and maintain test equipment to ensure top quality testing processes.

Responsibilities include creating test specifications, fixtures, and documentation; ensuring ISO-compliant procedures; collaborating with vendors; processing purchase requisitions; and driving technical excellence

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field required.
  • 5+ years of related experience preferred; equivalent combinations considered.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review precise test specifications and efficient test procedures.
  • Specify and design test fixtures; procure materials and equipment with automation opportunities.
  • Create and maintain test fixture documentation (CAD, schematics, BOMs).
  • Maintain test procedures and equipment per departmental procedures and ISO standards.
  • Serve as a technical resource to manufacturing and other departments for testing issues.

Job description

The Senior Test Engineer designs, specifies, and procures equipment, materials, hardware, and software to test products manufactured, distributed, or sold by the company, in accordance with company policies and procedures. This role also involves leading high impact projects for New Product Development and keeping the current test equipment in working condition, ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency in testing processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and review precise test specifications and prepare efficient test procedures based on these specifications.
  • Specify and design test fixtures, and procure necessary materials, parts, equipment, etc. with identifying opportunities for automation
  • Create and maintain test fixture documentation via appropriate software tools (CAD, schematics, Bills of Materials, replacement parts lists, etc.).
  • Maintain test procedures and equipment according to departmental procedures and in compliance with ISO standards.
  • Act as a technical resource to manufacturing and other departments to address and resolve test and related issues.
  • Interact with vendors on test issues, ensuring satisfactory resolution.
  • Submit accurate and timely Engineering Change Requests as required.
  • Process purchase requisitions as needed.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology and changes in the industry.
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

  • Experience or familiarity in NI LabVIEW for automated test development is a plus

Other Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, procedures, and safety instructions
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills (algebra, geometry, calculations)
  • Ability to work with tools, equipment, and standard office systems
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Valid driver’s license
