Job summary

MiniMed is seeking a Test Engineer to design, develop and implement testing methods and equipment for insulin delivery pump/transmitter systems. The role involves planning schedules, verifying products, and writing verification test plans and reports, with on-site Northridge, CA duties and up to 30% travel.

Responsibilities include supporting design verification activities, EMC/testing, and collaborating with R&D, Ops, Regulatory and Quality to ensure compliant product verification and risk

About The Role

In this exciting and challenging role as a test engineer, your responsibilities will include Designing, developing, and implementing testing methods and equipment. Plans and arranges schedules, and equipment required for verifying products. Provides test area with parameters for sample testing and specifies tests to be performed. Compiles data and defines changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements. Responsible for writing verification test plans and reports.

This role is full time on-site in Northridge, CA to support test method development and supervising of product verification testing. Up to 30% domestic travel is expected.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

• Support design verification activities associated with a family of insulin delivery pump/transmitter systems used by individuals to effectively manage Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
• Support product verification testing including reliability and EMC testing(in-house or third-party labs) activities of new and existing products.
• Support the development and implementation of EMC design guidelines and best practices.
• Operate a broad spectrum of lab equipment, such as DMM, spectrum analyzer, signal generators, power amplifiers, microscopes, oscilloscopes, vibration tables, environmental chambers, force measurement and application systems.
• Develop and document design verification test protocol, plans, and reports in compliance with FDA/ISO and global regulations.
• to establish and support development and testing strategies for the product and system.
• Partner and review risk management deliverables like design and process failure modes effects analysis (DFMEA/PFMEA) and Hazard Analysis
• Use of statistical techniques or data analysis such as life data analysis, hypothesis testing, confidence and tolerance intervals, regression, capability analysis, DOEs, etc., to inform design decision making and conclusions for deliverables like test method validations, design characterizations and verification and reliability demonstration activities.
• Participates on project teams and technical review boards and leads change control evaluations. Coordinate’s quality decisions between different quality and engineering groups. Effectively navigates & facilitates project teams with respect to our processes and procedures ensuring the delivery of safe and effective products.
• Develop and troubleshoot test methods across a broad range of mechanical, electrical, and functional testing for electromechanical devices
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, Ops, Regulatory, Quality).
• Demonstrate exceptional communication and technical writing skills
• Work collaboratively with stakeholders

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. Or an advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to travel and support testing in outside test labs
• Experience with test method development, repeatability, and execution

• Experience in SMT soldering.
• Ability to function as a team member in a collaborative work environment.
• Experience with DFMEA, Accelerated Life Testing, Risk Analysis, Reliability Growth, and/or Demonstration Testing
• Experience with planning and executing design verification testing, test method development and test method validation for Infusion pump systems (hands on execution experience preferred)

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$87,000.00 - $149,000.00

For roles located in California, Seattle WA, Washington DC, Boston MA, and New York City, the salary range is $97,000 - $165,000 USD.

Actual compensation may vary based on factors including experience, education, certifications, skills, market conditions, internal equity, and geographic location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Short Term Incentive (STI).
