Job summary

i3 is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to support an Army Project Office at Redstone Arsenal. You will lead test execution and documentation, developing test plans and procedures, and ensuring compliance with government standards.

Collaboration with government civilians, military personnel, and contractors is essential. The role requires extensive defense testing experience, strong communication, and the ability to mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in STEM or BS with equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 10 years engineering experience with defense systems/test engineering on government projects.
  • Must possess and maintain a US Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, multi-project team with government and prime contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute tests for a complex Air and Missile Defense system.
  • Participate in SIL, HWIL, distributed testing, system qualification and field testing.
  • Create pre-test documentation: test plans, requirements, procedures, and matrices; produce post-test reports.
  • Organize weekly test planning meetings and prepare presentations.
  • Support major stakeholder meetings and travel to test ranges as needed.
  • Contribute to weekly reporting: SITREPs, test calendars, asset status, EXSUMs.

Job description

Overview

Provide Test Engineering support for an Army Project Office at Redstone Arsenal. This role functions within the Project Office's Test Directorate in direct support of the Government Test Team and will work with government civilians, military personnel, and contractors. The Senior Test Engineer will play a critical role in test execution and test documentation, to include developing test plans, designing test procedures, executing tests, and maintaining thorough documentation in accordance with applicable government standards. Candidate must be professional, self-motivated, and possess good communication and team working skills to participate in multiple test support activities with team member Subject Matter Experts.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute tests for a complex and advanced Air and Missile Defense system for the US Army
  • Participate in Test activities including SIL, HWIL, Distributed Ground Testing, System Qualification Testing, and Field Testing with a team consisting of personnel from multiple projects, agencies, and labs
  • Generate pre-test documentation to include test plans, test requirements, test procedures, and test case matrices, as well as post-test support to include resolution of test incident reports and generation of post-test reports
  • Organize and participate in weekly Test Planning meetings; prepare test presentations
  • Support major meetings with Program Stakeholders such as T&E WIPTs
  • Travel to DOD Test Ranges to support various test operations and missions
  • Support weekly reporting efforts: team weekly activities reports, weekly SITREPs to management, test calendar, asset status, and EXSUMs for major test activities
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in STEM or related field or BS with equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 10 years engineering experience with focus on defense systems and test engineering experience with government-related projects
  • Overcoming gaps, risks, and challenges to demonstrate and mature emerging technologies
  • This work will occur as part of a Test Execution Team; therefore, the candidate must be able to work in a high-paced team environment consisting of government and prime contractor personnel from multiple projects, agencies, and labs including external agency stakeholders such as ATEC and OSD
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of DoD test and integration of complex defense systems
  • Proficiency with DoD current Test regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Excellent collaboration and communication abilities
  • Great organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to coach, teach and mentor junior Test Engineers
  • Must possess and maintain a US Secret security clearance
  • U.S. Citizen Preferred
Skills / Experience
  • Knowledge of Air and Missile Defense Command and Control concepts and operations
  • Strong desire to contribute to overall team success
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with government acquisition processes
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Understanding of agile methodology testing
