Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM field with 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience in test engineering, automated test development, system integration, and verification/validation.
  • Proficiency in automated test software development using Python.
  • Experience with ATE and software-based test frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with electronic hardware in labs and RF/test equipment.

We are seeking a Sr. Engineer, Test Engineering and Automation to support the development, integration, verification, and production transition of advanced RF-centric products and systems. This role will develop and implement automated test solutions, lead complex hardware/software integration and troubleshooting activities, analyze test data, and support product transition from engineering into manufacturing.

The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on test engineering experience with software-based test automation and is comfortable working across hardware, firmware, software, instrumentation, and automated test equipment (ATE). This individual will also provide technical leadership and mentoring while helping advance standardized, reusable, and data-driven test capabilities across programs.

This position offers flexible work arrangements, including onsite or hybrid work options, as well as alternative work schedules such as 9/80 (every other Friday off) or 4/10 (four 10-hour workdays per week) , based on role and business needs. Employees must live within commuting distance of the facility.

Develop test strategies, acceptance criteria, test plans, procedures, test cases, and test reports for complex RF-centric products and systems.

Develop, integrate, and maintain automated test solutions and ATE supporting engineering development, integration, verification, and production.

Develop automated test software using Python, LabVIEW, and other applicable test automation environments.

Architect and implement reusable test software, instrument-control capabilities, hardware abstraction, and common test frameworks.

Interface with lab instrumentation including network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, oscilloscopes, and other RF/electronic test equipment.

Lead product and system integration, verification and validation, acceptance testing, and regression testing activities.

Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of complex test and integration issues across hardware, firmware, software, instrumentation, fixtures, and automated test systems.

Analyze test data to identify trends, anomalies, failure mechanisms, and opportunities to improve product and test performance.

Work with development teams to convert initial manual test methods into robust, repeatable automated test solutions.

Develop and maintain requirements-to-test traceability and associated test artifacts.

Support development and implementation of test fixtures, interfaces, and engineering test stations.

Lead transition of test solutions from engineering development into manufacturing, including test procedure walkthroughs, training, troubleshooting, and production support.

Collaborate with RF, Digital/FPGA, Embedded Software, Systems, Manufacturing, and Program teams to improve product testability and resolve technical issues.

Identify and implement opportunities to improve test efficiency, reuse, reliability, throughput, and maintainability through automation and continuous improvement.

Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior engineers and other technical personnel.

Communicate test status, technical risks, results, and recommendations to engineering leadership, program management, customers, and other stakeholders.

Support engineering estimates, proposals, planning activities, and execution of assigned Test Engineering efforts within cost and schedule constraints.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or another relevant STEM discipline with a minimum of five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

Demonstrated experience in test engineering, automated test development, system integration, verification and validation, or related engineering disciplines.

Proficiency developing automated test software using Python.

Experience developing or working with automated test equipment (ATE) and software-based test frameworks.

Hands-on experience integrating and troubleshooting electronic hardware in an engineering lab environment.

Experience using electronic and/or RF lab instrumentation such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, oscilloscopes, or similar equipment.

Experience troubleshooting complex systems across hardware, software, firmware, instrumentation, and test-equipment boundaries.

Experience developing and executing engineering test plans, procedures, and test methods.

Experience analyzing engineering test data and communicating technical findings.

Working knowledge of Windows and/or Linux environments.

Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams and communicate with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Ability to provide technical leadership and mentor or guide less-experienced engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience developing automated test solutions using LabVIEW, C/C++, or similar programming/test automation environments.

Experience with RF/microwave hardware, receiver systems, tuners, communications systems, or other RF-centric products.

Familiarity with RF measurements such as gain, noise figure, linearity, compression, IP2/IP3, spurious performance, phase noise, or similar performance parameters.

Experience with instrument-control interfaces and protocols such as SCPI, VISA, Ethernet, serial, or similar technologies.

Experience with SQL, databases, test-data infrastructure, and engineering data-analysis/visualization tools.

Experience using Python data-analysis libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, or similar tools.

Exposure to machine learning, advanced analytics, or AI-enabled approaches applied to test data, diagnostics, or engineering workflows.

Experience transitioning automated test solutions from engineering development into manufacturing or production.

Experience with requirements management and development tools such as DOORS, JIRA, Git, or Confluence.

Experience with Agile/DevOps development practices.

Experience developing engineering estimates, basis of estimates (BOEs), or technical proposal content.

Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma or other continuous-improvement methodologies.

Experience serving as a technical lead and/or managing technical work packages within cost and schedule constraints.
