Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a contract RF performance engineer in Cupertino, CA, to execute, validate, and certify wireless performance across the product portfolio.

You will work at the intersection of hardware, software, and regulatory compliance, translating carrier and industry requirements into test cases and OTA validation plans. You will support certification testing at third‑party labs and debug wireless performance issues with RF hardware, antenna, and software teams, building deep expertise

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with antenna testing and RF test equipment.
• Familiar with wireless performance metrics and RF component behavior.
• Understanding of IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth, GNSS, or UWB.
• Experience translating requirements into test cases for certification/testing.

Responsibilities

• Validate OTA test cases for carrier/industry conformance in certification setups.
• Translate requirements into actionable test cases covering certification, performance and compliance.
• Define and execute validation plans for custom software features.
• Maintain test setups with periodic calibration and checks.

Job description

You will be responsible for executing, validating and certifying wireless performance across Apple's product portfolio. Working hands-on at the intersection of hardware, software, and regulatory compliance, you will translate carrier and industry requirements into test cases, execute OTA validation plans, support certification testing at third-party labs, and debug wireless performance issues alongside antenna, RF hardware, product design, and software engineering teams — building deep expertise across wireless technologies (WLAN, BT, UWB, GNSS) and RF systems alongside some of the best engineers in the industry.

Responsibilities

• Validating OTA test cases for different carrier/industry conformance requirements in certification test setups
• Translate carrier, regulatory, and industry requirements into actionable test cases, ensuring product validation covers all certification, performance, and compliance criteria.
• Define and execute validation plans for custom software features.
• Maintain test setups via periodic checks, calibration, etc.
• Plan and execute final certification testing at third-party test labs for PTCRB, CTIA, and CWG testing.

Minimum Qualifications

• Hands-on working experience with antenna testing, anechoic chambers, and RF test equipment.
• Familiar with wireless performance metrics, such as TRP/TIS, throughput, RSSI, Tx rate, antenna efficiency/ gain
• Solid understanding of RF component characteristics and behavior.
• Solid understanding of at least one wireless technology: IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth, GNSS, UWB.
