Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
  • Active DoD Secret or DoE security clearance is required.
  • Deep knowledge of missile system architecture, guidance/navigation/control/communication subsystems.
  • Extensive experience with TBMA? (Note: DoE/MBSE usage and DoD processes)

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute test plans, procedures, and reports for T&E and use simulations to predict system performance.
  • Conduct Ground & Fire Control Component/Subsystem Testing to verify technical specs.
  • Provide engineering support to Navy SSP programs and ensure safety and compliance.

The JRC team is looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Test and Evaluation Test Design to support the Navy SSP customer in a fast-paced new Acquisition development program for the Nuclear Sea-Launched Cruise Missile (SLCM-N) program. The successful candidate is a highly specialized engineer focused on the design and evaluation of strategic naval weapon systems, demanding a deep understanding of complex systems and high-stakes safety protocols for T&E Test Design, Modeling, Ground Test, Fire Control, Nuclear Surety, in support to Navy Strategic Systems Programs.

What You’ll Do
  • Test Planning & Design with the ability to develop, document, and execute comprehensive test plans, procedures, and reports for T&E. Provide expertise in creating detailed test plans that translate operational requirements into measurable test objectives. Ability to use simulations to predict system performance, reliability, and effectiveness under various conditions. Conduct Ground & Fire Control Test Component/Subsystem Testing on individual components and subsystems to verify technical specifications.
What You Bring to the Table
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Active DoD Secret or DoE security clearance.
  • System Knowledge:Understanding of missile system architecture, including guidance, navigation, control, and communication subsystems.
  • Scientific Test and Analysis Techniques (STAT): Application of statistical methods and Design of Experiments (DoE) to create efficient and effective test designs.
  • Acquisition Process:Familiarity with the DoD acquisition lifecycle and the role of T&E within it.
  • 10+ years' experience in Missile design, Fire Control system integration hardware in a loop, Nuclear Surety, Navy SSP and testing with preference for experience with Cruise Missile Test and Evaluation Design.
  • 5+ years' experience with Model Based System Engineering MBSE with Cruise Missile Test and Evaluation.
  • Resource Planning: Ability to identify and plan for all necessary test resources, including ranges, targets, instrumentation, and personnel.
  • Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE): Experience using MBSE tools to develop and analyze system architecture and behavior.
  • Verification, Validation, and Accreditation (VV&A): Knowledge of the VV&A process to ensure that models are a credible representation of the real-world system.
  • Fire Control System Integration: Deep understanding of fire control systems, including sensor integration, target tracking, and weapon engagement sequencing.
  • Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL): Experience with HWIL testing to evaluate the fire control system’s software and hardware in a simulated environment.
  • Nuclear Surety Safety & Security Protocols: Comprehensive knowledge of DoD and Navy policies and procedures for ensuring the safety, security, and control of nuclear weapons.
  • Design Certification: Understanding of the stringent design and certification requirements for nuclear-certified systems.
  • Personnel Reliability Program (PRP): Familiarity with the requirements and management of the PRP.
  • Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) Trident Weapon System: In-depth knowledge of the Trident II D5/D5LE missile and associated submarine systems.
  • SSP Processes: Familiarity with the specific engineering, T&E, and acquisition processes and procedures of Navy SSP.
  • Fleet Support: Experience providing engineering and technical support to the Fleet for strategic weapon systems.
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams to coordinate system design activities.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and execute workload to meet requirements and deadlines and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment conducting analysis with uncertainties or incomplete data.
  • Must be capable of breaking down complex issues into simplified problem statements and laying out objective approaches to identify and compare the merits of competing solutions.
