Job summary

Verizon is seeking an on-site field technician to install, monitor, test and maintain telecom equipment at facilities and customer sites. You will ensure the fiber optic network delivers a best-in-class customer experience and coordinate turn-up with various teams.

You must have a degree or equivalent experience, a valid driver's license, and be willing to travel up to 25% and work on-call shifts including nights and weekends. Physical requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 1+ years relevant experience, demonstrated through work or military experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willingness to travel up to ~25% of the time.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the job.
• Willingness to work on-call, rotating schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Knowledge of transmission equipment from Cisco, Siemens, Fujitsu, Alcatel and Ciena.

Responsibilities

• Installation, monitoring, testing and maintenance of telecom and related equipment in facilities and on customer property.
• Maintain the integrity of the fiber optic network for a best-in-class customer experience.
• Assemble, install and turn up high speed transport equipment like Ciena, Tellabs, Fujitsu and ROADM gear.
• Install Cisco routers and ethernet systems to provide services up to 1 GB.
• Coordinate test, turn up and acceptance of customer service with local and remote groups.
