The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Senior Technology Advisor for Space Architectures in the Tyson's area. This 100% onsite role supports ODNI and IC stakeholders, driving space architecture decisions and program analyses with senior leaders.

A successful candidate will hold a STEM degree (Bachelor’s or higher), bring 10+ years of leadership in engineering/strategic planning, and possess an active TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a STEM field.
  • 10+ years of increasing responsibility in engineering, technical, or strategic planning roles.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph; U.S. citizenship required to obtain clearance.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering analyses for senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage technical acumen to develop trusted-advisor relationships with senior customers.
  • Advise ODNI leadership on space program analysis, capability gaps, and architecture integration.
  • Assess feasibility, technical debt, and architectural implications of proposed solutions.
  • Form and manage teams to deliver strategic analyses and study results for senior customers.
  • Support executive decision-making with deep technical understanding of advancements and priorities.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across Aerospace and IC elements to understand mission needs.
  • Propose new areas and projects to expand impact across ODNI and IC.

The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

The National Intelligence Division within NSG supports the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, Policy and Capabilities (P&C) organization. P&C is the IC component responsible for synthesizing community-wide capabilities and policies. P&C prioritizes mission and technology areas to ensure integration across enabling functions such as data management, contracting, acquisitions and research such that the Community is strategically positioned. P&C advances the integration of mission priorities and capability needs across the IC to meet future challenges and opportunities in support of our Nation’s security. The Aerospace team supports P&C leadership decision making by delivering insight on the future intelligence environment with fact-based analysis on strategic issues, acquisitions, capabilities, cost, and effectiveness. Aerospace is looking for a Senior Technology Advisor for Space Architectures (Senior Project Engineer - Enterprise Systems Engineering) to drive Aerospace’s impact on the Intelligence Community’s space enterprise acquisitions.

This is a full-time position based in the Tyson’s area in the National Capital Region, which requires 100% onsite work with the possibility of some assignments at the Aerospace Chantilly Campus.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Leverage your technical acumen and soft-people skills in working shoulder to shoulder with our senior customers to develop trusted-partner technical advisory relationships.
  • Act as an advisor to senior leaders across ODNI on issues related to space program analysis, capability gaps, space architecture requirements, and integration into the IC space and ground architecture.
  • Advise ODNI and SCO leadership on functional, performance and interoperability gaps to meet current and emerging strategic initiatives.
  • Apply technical knowledge to assess feasibility, technical debt, and architectural implications of proposed technology solutions
  • Work with Aerospace subject matter experts to form and manage teams to deliver strategic analysis and study results for senior customers
  • Help improve and accelerate executive decision making by providing deep technical understanding of technological advancements, mission and capability needs, or priorities for strategic investment portfolio reviews
  • Engage with and coordinate with stakeholders across Aerospace and other IC elements to understand mission needs driving future systems architectures
  • Operate strategically to propose new areas, projects, and tasks to expand Aerospace’s impact on mission capabilities for multiple divisions and offices across ODNI and other IC elements
  • Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned as needed.
What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for Senior Project Engineer - Enterprise Systems Engineering:

  • Bachelor’s OR Advanced degree in a STEM field
  • 10 or more years of increasing responsibility and applicable experience in engineering, technical, or strategic planning roles
  • Demonstrated effective skills in communication, organization, time and resource tracking.
  • Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to quickly analyze technical material and provide clear, concise, and timely assessments in support of decision making and strategic planning.
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Advanced degree in applicable STEM areas or other relevant discipline
  • Significant and demonstrated experience and deep technical knowledge of aspects of the IC mission, capability acquisition, and design of space system architectures
  • Experience in leading technical, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in cost, schedule, and performance risk/issue management of the IC, DoD, or industry space architectures.
  • Demonstrated experience with the Intelligence Production cycle and Capabilities related to collection, data management and exploitation applications and capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with other intelligence community and national security space organizations, working groups, or senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinker with the ability to think ahead and anticipate potential problems or identify patterns and make meaning out of overarching trends.

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
