Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a senior technician to join a small, passionate development team focused on system prototyping and rapid development. You will work closely with engineers to move designs from concept through development and into production, applying hands-on machining skills and feedback to improve manufacturability.

You will interpret models and drawings, build prototypes, and contribute to continuous improvement while supporting off-shift and extended hours as needed in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Significant aerospace or complex hardware development experience.
• Hands-on machining with mills and lathes, CNC router setup/operation, fixturing, and basic programming or prove-out.
• Ability to interpret models, drawings, specs, and work instructions.
• Strong work ethic with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer skills (Windows, MS Office).
• Strong communication and collaboration across distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Partner with prototyping and development teams to move designs to functional hardware and early production.
• Interpret models and drawings to guide fabrication.
• Build and assemble prototypes for testing and development.
• Provide feedback on manufacturability and design improvements.
• Operate and maintain shop equipment including manual mills, lathes, CNC routers, CAM/workflow tools, and inspection gear.
• Ensure quality and conformance to engineering specs and work instructions.
• Document, standardize, and improve production and development processes.
• Review work instructions and suggest safety/clarity improvements.
• Support setup of new development areas including layouts, tooling, and material flow.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for safety, quality, and throughput.
• Provide mentorship to less experienced technicians and support training.
