Job summary

Qualifications
- 3 years’ HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration experience.
- 6 years’ HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration experience with AAS degree.
- EPA Type I/II or Universal certification for refrigerant handling.
- HVAC-R/Mechanical Journeyman where required.
- 1 year plumbing/electrical/material handling or 2 years Walmart store experience.
- Valid state driver’s license with clean MVR.
- No major driving violations in last 3 years.

The position involves mentoring team members, coordinating service activities, and supporting critical business operations through timely issue resolution. The Senior Technician also drives continuous improvement by evaluating new technologies and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance processes and meet evolving organizational needs.
About the team: The Exterior Services team ensures Walmart’s outdoor areas are expertly maintained through landscape care and irrigation repairs. This team efficiently manages projects while adhering to safety and environmental standards. Collaborating with internal and external partners, members deliver quality service, resolve challenges, and implement improvements that enhance sustainability and cost efficiency. - Lead diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues in commercial and industrial settings.

- Manage refrigerant handling, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and HVAC/R codes.

- Participate in on‑call rotation to support critical business needs outside regular hours.
- Extensive experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including refrigeration units and building pneumatics.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant systems in commercial and industrial settings.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor field teams, providing hands‑on training and evaluating technician performance.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant handling protocols, and compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R codes.
- Proficiency in managing parts inventory, vendor relationships, and coordinating service workloads to meet business priorities.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to support process improvements and cross‑functional initiatives.

The hourly wage range for this position is $35.00 - $70.00**The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.
Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
- Option 1: 3 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration.
- Option 2: 6 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
- Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
- Where required, HVAC‑R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
- 1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area or 2 years’ Walmart store experience.
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
- Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
- Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
- No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
- No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
- Completion of a 2-year technical/vocational HVAC/R program or 2-year associate’s of applied science A/C and refrigeration.
- Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
- Prior work experience with Glycol and C02 systems.
