Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking a Technical Writer to advance customer missions through clear, precise documentation and collaboration with engineers and project managers.

You will create, update, and maintain technical docs, develop POA&Ms, and ensure alignment with standards and regulatory requirements. The role is onsite in Washington, DC with a salary range of $85,000 to $115,000 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Technical Writer.
• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing or related field; substitution allowed.
• Familiarity with government writing guidelines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience developing POA&Ms.
• Familiarity with Agile or ITIL frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Create, update, and maintain technical documentation, including diagrams, manuals and procedures.
• Develop and maintain POA&Ms to support project management and compliance.
• Collaborate with engineers, PMs and SMEs to gather and organize information.
• Ensure documentation complies with policies, regulations and standards.
• Review and edit existing documentation for accuracy and alignment with systems.
• Maintain revision history and repositories for accessibility and traceability.
