Job summary

SAIC seeks a Technical Writer III in Bedford, IN to develop, write, and edit manuals, procedures, and test documents for the U.S. Navy.

This senior role leads the F3113 technical writing efforts, owning standards, schedules, and deliverables across the contract, with on-site work five days per week alongside engineers, technicians, project leads, and government customers. Ideal candidates have 5+ years of technical writing experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to mentor junior

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in technical writing or related technical communication support.
• Experience developing technical documentation from engineering source data and/or direct observation of systems.
• Ability to lead small teams, mentor junior writers, and conform to templates and standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop, write, and edit technical content for manuals, procedures, reports, and other deliverables to contract requirements.
• Lead small teams, delegate tasks, review work, and report to program manager and government task lead.
• Observe production, development, test, and field activities to capture accurate procedures.
• Consult with engineering, production, test, and field personnel to collect source information.
• Review and interpret blueprints, schematics, parts lists, and specifications.
• Organize complex material into clear structures and maintain documentation standards.
• Edit and standardize content for consistency and formatting.
• Use Adobe FrameMaker as primary authoring tool for manuals and documentation.
• Coordinate graphics to support technical content and assist with publication prep.
