Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to join our Overhead Transmission Design team. The candidate will lead project execution, manage teams, and interface with clients across Southeast regional offices or opt for remote or hybrid arrangements.

The role requires a BS in engineering, a professional license, 10+ years of experience in high voltage line design, and strong communication skills to coordinate projects, schedules, budgets, and QA/QC processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and a Professional Engineer license (multi-state preferred).
• 10+ years of post-education experience in engineering and civil design.
• Strong command of English with excellent written and verbal communication.
• Extensive experience in overhead High Voltage and Extra High Voltage transmission line design.
• Extensive knowledge in PLS-CADD and related tools.
• Experience managing projects and leading multi-discipline teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the initial project execution layout and establish an efficient project plan.
• Manage engineers, drafters, and designers and interface directly with the client.
• Create and maintain a project schedule and budget.
• Coordinate with clients on project status and support project meetings.
• Maintain project workflow across multi-discipline projects internal and external to POWER.
• Forecast upcoming project requirements to assist in resource planning.
• Develop transmission line design knowledge in PLS-CADD, structures, foundations, and drawings.
• Provide weekly or bi-weekly project updates and forecasts to PM and leadership.
• Support PM by meeting with clients, in-person and remotely.

This Opportunity

WSP is currently recruiting for a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to join our Overhead Transmission Design team. Candidates may elect to work from any of our Southeast regional offices, located in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, the Carolinas, or Virginia, or choose a remote or hybrid arrangement from a mutually agreed-upon location. This role offers a flexible work schedule, with both full-time and part-time employment options available.

Your Impact

The successful candidate willbe responsible forleading, supporting, and coordinating the following:

Project Support

• Leadtheinitialproject execution layout to ensure an efficient and effective project plan has been established
• Manage engineers, drafters, and designers onengineering projects and interface directly with the client
• Responsible for creating andmaintaininga project schedule and budget
• Conduct weekly or bi-weekly project meetings to clearly outline upcoming deliverables and tasks with responsible personnelidentified
• Coordinate with clients on project status and support project meetings as necessary
• Maintain project workflow and thorough communication across multi-discipline projects, both internal and external to POWER
• Forecast upcoming project requirements toassistin resource planning
• Facilitate and adhere to POWER’s QA/QC procedure to ensure the correct personnel is performing the required QA/QC review
• Participate in industry conferences, both internal and external, to improve professionalgrowth while fostering knowledge transfer to colleagues
• Develop Transmission Line design knowledgepertaining toPLS-CADD, structure staking, foundations, assembly drawings, steel pole performance loading, material procurement, construction specification, and construction support
• Project Manager Support
• Maintain project status reports
• Provide weekly or bi-weekly project updates and project forecasting
• Lead and/or support PM by meeting with clients, both in-person and remotely
• Develop client relationships allowing POWER the opportunity to position ourselves to win future work

Department Manager Support

• Support resource forecast planning for upcoming and current project loads
• Participate in new hire screening and review processes
• Provide business improvement methodologies and procedures
• Discuss project and/or department personnel conflicts, performance issues, and collaborate on a suitable approach to constructively provide a successful resolution
• Contribute to Business Planning and Budgeting

Who You Are

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Engineer licenserequired(multi-state preferred).
• 10+ years of relevantpost-educationexperience in engineering and civil design.
• The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.
• Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite
• At least10years of experiencein the design of overhead High Voltage and Extra High Voltage transmission lines including route selection, line and structure spotting, structure design and analysis, and development of construction bid packages
• Candidate must have extensive knowledge in PLS-Cadd.
• Experience managing projects and leading multi-disciplined teams
