Senior Technical Trainer
Location: San Diego, CA (must be local to area). The position will be based at the Naval Information Warfare Center, Pacific (NIWC PAC) San Diego, CA, Old Town Center.
Role Summary: Provide comprehensive technical training support for the Naval Messaging systems, including development of training materials, delivery of sessions, and testing of applications and messaging systems.
Job Duties
- Develop, update, and deliver comprehensive technical training materials for the Naval Messaging In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA).
- Provide instruction both independently and collaboratively, tailoring content to meet the specific needs of diverse audiences.
- Travel to various locations to provide onsite technical training, with an expected commitment of approximately 25% per year.
- Collaborate with stakeholders—including customers, fleet organizations, engineering teams, and software developers—to gather requirements and develop comprehensive training programs.
- Prepare lesson plans, create training materials, design product demonstrations, and develop course content.
- Determine appropriate training methodologies and coordinate the creation of training aids.
- Deliver training sessions at Navy operational sites and establish criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities.
- Continuously revise lesson plans to ensure course material accurately reflects product features and addresses new training requirements.
- Contribute to the development and validation of Interactive Electronic Training Manuals.
- Perform testing of applications and messaging systems in the Navy lab environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience; years of experience in lieu of a degree will be reviewed and considered.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible to obtain a U.S. passport for international travel.
- Must have an Active Secret Clearance to start.
- Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance after start.
- Current CompTIA Security+ at a minimum or ability to obtain within six months.
- Naval Messaging application administration and operational experience.
- Strong computer and networking skills with knowledge of current applicable military and commercial standards and specifications.
- Experience developing and delivering military application training.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Visio, Project, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
- Excellent communication skills, with a focus on delivering clear and engaging presentations to small groups (up to 10 participants).
- Ability to conduct structured, step-by-step technical training sessions and provide real-time corrections and support.
Desired Experience and Certifications
- Basic understanding of Windows Active Directory.
- Familiarity with Navy messaging systems.
- Knowledge of cloud computing concepts.
- Master Training Specialist or Afloat Training Specialist.
- Professional level vendor certifications such as Microsoft or Linux+.
Target Salary Range: $80,001 - $120,000.
