Job summary

Vantage Data Centers seeks a Senior Technical Project Manager – Automation Delivery to lead automation design, engineering delivery, and project execution onsite in Shackelford County, TX. You will coordinate with design engineers, engineers of record, and systems integrators to meet schedule milestones and project goals.

The role requires 6–7+ years in BMS/automation leadership, strong project management skills, and experience with PLC/SCADA, Procore, and CxAlloy.

Position Overview

Senior Technical Project Manager – Automation Delivery (Onsite in Shackelford County, TX).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Automation Systems team design and engineering interfacing resource.
  • Support pre‑bid planning, coordination, and execution strategies to ensure quality design and engineering deliverables.
  • Support internal Innovation and Design Engineers teams to ensure standards and design engineering initiatives are adhered to throughout the automation design process.
  • Lead automation project design activities, partnering with the Engineer of Record, Design Systems Integration teams, and automation construction teams regarding scope, deliverables, and factory acceptance testing.
  • Support Sales, Design Engineering, and Services to develop project requirements based on market demands or customer requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership regarding automation issue mitigation to support delivery and commissioning schedules throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Job Functions
  • Lead automation design and engineering projects that align with business vision, strategy, and deployment.
  • Assist in defining automation project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Manage multiple automation technical project scopes, schedules, and stakeholder relations across the regions.
  • Drive all aspects of automation activities related to new and existing project development through design, engineering, and construction phases.
  • Manage automation technical responsibilities with the Engineer of Record and Design and Controls Systems Integrators.
  • Coordinate and update automation design deliverables with applicable construction partners.
  • Ensure adherence to North American standards by the Engineer of Record and Design Systems Integrator.
  • Provide automation system technical oversight and issue mitigation throughout design, engineering, and commissioning activities.
  • Coordinate and support Factory Witness Tests, software bench testing, and on‑site points for various projects.
  • Provide remote or onsite project and vendor support ensuring a successful design and engineering delivery.
  • Manage automation design, engineering, and programming/software deliverables (Specifications, IFCs, SOOs, PLC, SCADA, etc.), ensuring critical milestones are maintained.
  • Lead and participate in weekly and/or daily automation engineering meetings for each applicable regional project.
Duties
  • Lead regional automation project design, engineering, and programming/software delivery.
  • Support developing and managing automation design and engineering strategies.
  • Develop technical task prioritization and scheduling for allocating resources and project timelines.
  • Support and coordinate automation design and engineering requirements with internal and external partners.
  • Evaluate progress on projects and track changes to schedule.
  • Develop and maintain standard communication and technical documentation for automation aspects of project implementation (RFIs, Transmittals, Submittals, Change Requests, Project Plans, Status Updates, etc.).
  • Additional duties as assigned by manager.
Job Requirements
  • 6–7+ years of experience in Building Management System (BMS) design, integration, commissioning, or technical leadership.
  • BS in related Engineering or Construction Management fields preferred but not required.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans, drawings, sketches, and specifications.
  • PLC / SCADA Application Engineering experience preferred.
  • Allen‑Bradley and Ignition experience highly preferred.
  • 6–7+ years Data Center or Mission Critical project experience preferred.
  • Proven success in project management with PMP certification preferred.
  • Experience in instrumentation and controls (I&C) preferred.
  • Experience with Procore and CxAlloy preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Project, MS Office, and MS SharePoint.
  • Travel required is expected to be 25% but may increase over time.
