Job summary

Great American Insurance Group is seeking a Technical Project Manager to drive deliverables and coordination across Emerging Technology teams. The role focuses on improving productivity, quality, and speed, turning ambiguity into direction and delivering scalable, technology-enabled solutions.

You will partner with AI Hub, architects, platform teams, and IT stakeholders to frame opportunities, govern work, and ensure governance and delivery paths are followed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years of related experience including Technical Project Management.
  • Lean methodologies certification preferred, with strong product development understanding.
  • User-Centered Design certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Enable Agile teams to adopt Scrum and Agile practices.
  • Facilitate ceremonies, PI planning, and delivery tracking with transparency.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, stakeholders, and leadership to align priorities.
  • Coaching and mentoring to support Agile transformation and culture.
  • Develop executive dashboards and status reports to show progress and risks.
  • Coordinate cross-functional engagement to accelerate responsible experimentation.

P&C IT Services provides professional services to help our business units and corporate functions use technology to create, manage, and optimize information and business processes. The Emerging Technology (ET) team serves as GAIG’s innovation engine, identifying, evaluating, and scaling emerging technologies that drive operational excellence, enhance risk management, improve customer experiences, and create sustainable competitive advantage across the insurance value chain. The Emerging Technology team partners with business and technology leaders to research, assess, pilot, and scale innovative solutions that deliver measurable business value, improve operational efficiency, and position GAIG as a future-ready insurer.

We are looking for a Technical Project Manager to join our team. The Technical Project Manager is accountable for driving deliverables, coordination, and operational rhythm of these teams with the target of improving ET teams productivity, quality, and speed. This high-ownership role is ideal for someone who can turn ambiguity into direction, manage delivery of emerging capabilities, and help move early-stage ideas into structured opportunities, product backlogs, and scalable technology-enabled solutions.

Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities
  • Enable Agile teams to effectively adopt Scrum and Agile practices, fostering collaboration, self-organization, and continuous value delivery.
  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies, PI planning, and delivery tracking while removing impediments and driving continuous improvement through metrics and transparency.
  • Partner with Product Owners, stakeholders, and leadership to align priorities, manage risks, and ensure successful delivery of business value.
  • Support organizational Agile transformation through coaching, mentoring, talent development, performance management, and promotion of Agile culture and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain executive-level dashboards, scorecards, and status reports to provide transparent visibility into delivery progress, risks, dependencies, and business outcomes.
  • Facilitate regular portfolio, program, and operational reviews with leadership to ensure alignment, communicate progress, address risks, and drive informed decision‑making.
  • Partnering closely with AI Hub, architects, platform teams, and IT stakeholders to frame opportunities and guide work through appropriate governance and delivery paths.
  • Partners with workstream leads to balance innovation with pragmatism and ensuring capabilities are embedded into real IT workflows rather than treated as standalone experiments.
  • Responsible for coordinating cross‑functional engagement to accelerate responsible experimentation.
Other Job Functions And Responsibilities
  • Stays informed on latest technology trends
  • Fosters a collaborative environment by working closely with cross‑functional roles and teams.
  • May utilize AI‑Assisted rapid prototyping to validate ideas and support discovery efforts
  • May be responsible for the performance and coaching of staff and may have a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management for direct reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience: Generally, a minimum of 6 years of related experience that includes experience in Technical Project Management. Certification in Lean methodologies preferred, with a strong understanding of product development and development framework -- ideally Extreme Programming. User‑Centered Design certification preferred.
