Job summary

Roblox is seeking a Technical Program Manager for Roblox Engine to drive cross-functional programs across game-engine, graphics, and avatar mechanics. You will build and ship technical solutions that enhance user and creator experiences, joining an early team shaping TPM roles.

You’ll lead end-to-end programs with engineering and product leads, manage scopes, milestones, and execution plans, and communicate program health, risks, and timelines to stakeholders.

As a TPM for Roblox Engine, you will make a huge impact by driving our engineering efforts to build and ship technical solutions to enable great user and creator experiences. Specifically, you will build cross-functional technical programs for our game-engine, graphics, and avatar mechanics. This is an excellent opportunity to be an early member of our team and help define what a great TPM can be.

You will:

• Manage Engine programs end-to-end with cross functional teams, build strong alignment between program objectives and company’s long-term vision
• Work with Eng and PM leads to define workflows and scopes of work, milestones and plans of execution in standard documents
• Contribute to holistic program direction. Identify gaps in the strategy, definition and execution of the end-to-end projects and develop plans for improvements.
• Enable engineering teams to stay focused on priorities and reliably manage all project phases.
• Establish and maintain effective cross functional communication and collaboration.
• Drive the build, release, expansion, and adoption of technologies. Build the task force to automate manual efforts.
• Constantly communicate the health of program/projects, risks and implications to timelines with technical and product leads, and stakeholders.

You have:

• A track-record as a technical leader with domain expertise in software engineering or system engineering
• Experience working on multiple tech stacks
• Experience with establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams
• Experience with identifying critical technical problems and opportunities
• Data-driven strategic thinking and can convey ideas that materialize in solid planning and day-to-day execution to deliver quality products
• Experience with delivering end to end technical programs through effective execution while meeting quality and performance requirements
• The ability to turn specific solutions into systems that benefit larger communities in the long run
• The ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment with competing resources and priorities
• Knowledge about user needs, scoping, planning, execution and delivery
• Outstanding communication skills for both engineering and program-leadership audiences
• A self starter attitude with a high degree of self direction and independent drive
• Flexibility around process; using process as a tool when it makes sense for a team

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.

Annual Salary Range

$226,400 – $277,350 USD

Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
