Job description

Overview

We are seeking a full‑time Senior Technical Program Manager at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will lead the strategy, tooling, and operational processes for Garmin’s open‑source wiki and related information sharing systems. You will work alongside team members to define scalable ways for teams to create, organize, maintain, and use shared documentation. This role requires partnering across organizational boundaries to improve how technical information is structured, accessed, and sustained through practical tools, clear workflows, and consistent governance.

Essential Functions
  • Lead the strategy and continuous improvement of Garmin’s open‑source wiki and related tools.
  • Define and maintain processes for creating, organizing, and sustaining shared documentation.
  • Establish standards for content structure, ownership, and governance.
  • Independently own complex, multi‑team programs with ambiguous requirements or dependencies.
  • Define and drive execution strategy across teams, functions, and timelines.
  • Resolve cross‑organizational dependencies, risks, and delivery friction without direct authority.
  • Ensure programs deliver intended outcomes, not just milestones.
  • Lead program activities that involve coordination with external partners or customers.
  • Communicate program status, risks, and dependencies to senior managers and cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Provide execution leadership and mentorship to Technical Program Managers working on contributing programs.
  • Maintain a regular and consistent physical presence in the assigned work location.
  • Demonstrate reliable, predictable, and punctual attendance.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Management and a minimum of 5 years of experience in technical program management, program management, product management, or equivalent experience in shipping software or cloud services.
  • Proven ability to orchestrate work across multiple teams and disciplines.
  • Strong judgment in navigating ambiguity and trade‑offs.
  • Must possess clear, concise communication with various groups such as engineering and business leadership.
  • Must be detail‑oriented and possess the ability to prioritize, organize, and multi‑task in a flexible, fast‑paced, and challenging environment to effectively meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in end‑to‑end delivery of software products and/or technology features from inception to production release.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with open‑source collaboration models, contributor workflows, or open technical knowledge‑sharing practices.
  • Familiarity with process documentation, workflow design, or technical governance frameworks.
