We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Practitioner to support large-scale Electronic Health Record (EHR) modernization and deployment efforts within the healthcare environment.
This individual will serve as a critical member of the implementation team responsible for assessing technical readiness, coordinating deployment activities, supporting infrastructure planning, and ensuring successful EHR transitions across hospitals, medical centers, and outpatient clinics.
The ideal candidate possesses deep healthcare technology experience, extensive stakeholder management capabilities, and prior experience supporting VA healthcare facilities, large health systems, or enterprise EHR implementations.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Discovery & Assessment
- Lead and coordinate onsite technical discovery activities across hospitals, medical centers, and ambulatory clinics
- Assess End User Devices (EUDs), technical infrastructure, interfaced systems, medical device integrations, and Data Drops & Power Outlets (DDPO)
- Document existing technical environments and identify risks, gaps, constraints, and remediation requirements
- Perform technical readiness reviews and post-discovery analysis to support deployment planning
- Develop recommendations and implementation scope based on assessment findings. EHR Deployment Support
- Support the full lifecycle of EHR implementation and modernization initiatives
- Maintain understanding of enterprise-standard technical capabilities, supported devices, interfaces, and deployment requirements
- Assist with infrastructure readiness, technology transition planning, and cutover execution activities
- Support go-live planning, command center activities, and stabilization efforts
- Partner with engineering, networking, and technical operations teams to resolve deployment challenges
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with local site leadership, IT directors, clinical technology teams, engineering groups, and executive stakeholders
- Coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and technology partners throughout deployment activities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to healthcare facility leadership regarding readiness, risks, and implementation planning
- Facilitate meetings, workshops, status reviews, and executive updates.
- Project Management & Logistics.
- Track device procurement, deployment schedules, inventory management, and logistics activities
- Coordinate implementation timelines across multiple sites and workstreams
- Monitor project milestones, deliverables, risks, issues, and dependencies
- Contribute to deployment governance and reporting efforts
- Develop presentations, executive briefings, and project documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Healthcare Informatics, Engineering, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, or related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience supporting healthcare technology, healthcare IT, EHR implementations, or technical deployment programs
- Experience conducting healthcare facility assessments, technical discovery efforts, or infrastructure evaluations
- Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare technology environments, clinical systems, network infrastructure, and end-user technology deployments
- Strong understanding of system integrations and technical interfaces
- Experience managing cross-functional stakeholders and technical teams
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and client-facing communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency with: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to travel (50%-80%) frequently to healthcare facilities throughout California and other assigned regions
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
- Existing VA status, VA program experience, or direct experience working within VA medical centers
- Experience supporting Oracle Health (Cerner), Oracle EHR, Epic, MEDITECH, Allscripts, or other enterprise EHR platforms.
- Experience with healthcare infrastructure modernization initiatives
- Familiarity with medical device integrations and interface management
- Healthcare consulting experience
- PMP, PMI, ITIL, Lean Six Sigma, or related certifications
