Job summary

Ashburn Consulting, based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, seeks a Technical Engineer II to provide hands-on network, RF, and telecommunications engineering support for FEMA CCD programs. The role follows the Mount Weather baseline with location changes but consistent technical scope.

Responsibilities include design, testing, deployment, and troubleshooting of terrestrial/wireless networks, Carrier Ethernet, RF equipment, and security-compliant configurations.

Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required.
  • Current CCNA certification is required.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on telecom/network/RF/field engineering experience.
  • Experience with routers, switches, servers, and Carrier Ethernet transport.
  • Hands-on RF transmission-system experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, research, develop, test, implement, optimize, enhance, operate, and maintain terrestrial and wireless telecommunications systems and networks.
  • Configure and support Cisco routers, switches, servers, and related interfaces.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain HF radios, satellite, VHF/UHF radio, Wi-Fi, and related communications equipment including encrypted operations.
  • Install, repair, or replace RF equipment, base stations, antennas, and encryption devices.
  • Document test plans, configurations, and as-built drawings for projects.
