Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation invites a Senior Technical Advisor to join the Defense Systems Group in Dayton, OH, guiding OsUAS program activities from development to fielding. You will serve as a trusted technical advisor shaping engineering decisions and acquisition strategy for Group 1‑3 sUAS capabilities in both permissive and contested environments.

Applicants must hold a TS/SCI clearance, be a U.S. citizen, and have 12+ years in systems engineering within defense acquisitions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM field.
• 12+ years of progressive technical and leadership experience in defense acquisition or program oversight.
• Experience conducting technical analyses and engineering trades related to UAS system capabilities.
• Proven ability to collaborate with government program offices, senior leaders, and cross‑organizational teams.
• Active TS/SCI clearance; U.S. citizenship required to obtain clearance.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Senior Technical Advisor to the OsUAS portfolio, providing independent assessment across development, test, and procurement of various small UAS systems.
• Provide expert technical judgment to inform design trades, acquisition strategy, risk assessments, and readiness evaluations.
• Collaborate with government, SETA, contractors, and aerospace partners to deliver high‑quality analyses and decision-support products.
• Engage experts in autonomy, sensing, EW, PNT, mesh networking, and related areas to address UAS challenges.
• Contribute technically in payload integration, autonomy, sensing, or survivability aspects of UAS operations.
• Identify risks and opportunities and advise leadership on mitigation approaches and lessons learned.
