Job summary

Brighthouse Financial is seeking a Lead Technical Accounting Advisor in Charlotte, NC (Hybrid) or remote. You will conduct technical accounting research, interpret US GAAP and SAP, and serve as the liaison between technical accounting and external reporting during close periods.

The role requires 4–8 years in a technical accounting role, CPA or master's degree, strong communication, and experience in life insurance. You will review disclosures, update policies, and support audits.

Qualifications

• 4–8 years of experience in a technical accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SAP.
• Excellent written and oral communication, able to interact with senior management and auditors.
• Experience in public accounting, auditing or consulting to the life insurance industry.
• CPA designation or master's degree required.

Responsibilities

• Research and interpret technical accounting topics under US GAAP and SAP.
• Monitor and implement new accounting guidance, providing strategic insights.
• Review quarterly and annual SEC filings with external auditors.
• Document accounting for new agreements and transactions entered into by the company.
• Maintain accounting policies and internal controls over financial reporting.
• Provide training on accounting topics to internal customers.
