Job summary

Baker Tilly is seeking a Tax Senior Manager to join our United States practice in Virginia. The role offers opportunities to deliver industry-focused tax advisory and compliance services to middle market clients while working closely with firm leadership to grow the business.

You will mentor staff, manage client engagements, and provide strategic tax planning and execution across various tax disciplines, ensuring high-quality deliverables and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or law; advanced degree desirable.
• 8+ years’ experience in federal tax compliance and consulting in professional services.
• Strong management, analytical, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide federal tax compliance and consulting services to middle market and multinational clients.
• Lead client relationships on day-to-day tax matters.
• Consult on corporate and flow-through taxation, ASC 740 and related areas.
• Research tax matters and respond to IRS inquiries with client recommendations.
• Coordinate with specialty tax practices on state/local, international issues, credits and incentives.
• Manage staffing, billing, and profitability targets for engagements.
• Network and build relationships to acquire new projects and revenue.
• Mentor and develop staff under the Baker Tilly Care and Teach philosophy.

Key Responsibilities

• Be a trusted member of the engagement team providing various federal tax compliance and consulting services to industry specific clients.
• Be a valued tax business advisor, lead client relationships on day to day tax matters with various clients ranging from middle market to multinational.
• Consult on technical matters and special projects in various areas of corporate and flow through taxation, accounting methods, and ASC740.
• Research various tax matters, responding to IRS and other tax authority inquiries, and make recommendations to the client for consideration.
• Coordinate with specialty tax practices on complicated tax matters in the state and local, high net worth, international, research and development along with credits and incentives areas.
• Manage client engagement staffing, billings/collections, and ensure client profitability targets are met.
• Utilize your entrepreneurial skills to network and build strong relationships internally and externally with the goal of acquiring new clients, projects, and revenue.
• Support the growth and development of team members through the Baker Tilly Care and Teach philosophy, helping associates meet their professional goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or law, or a similar degree in business, masters or advanced degree desirable.
• Eight (8)+ years’ experience providing federal tax compliance and consulting services in a professional services firm.
• Demonstrated management, analytical, organization, interpersonal, project management, communication skills.
• Ability to lead and supervise others, provide exceptional client service, demonstrate commitment to continuous learning in order to stay current regarding applicable strategies, see the "big picture" as well as the details, display appropriate ethical knowledge and commitment, and exhibit a sense of urgency and commitment to quality and the timely completion of projects.
• Highly developed software and Microsoft Suite skills.
