Job summary

Aston Carter seeks a Senior Tax Specialist to manage complex state and local tax matters, focusing on sales and use tax compliance, research, and process optimization. You will work with large datasets across ERP systems and partner with business leaders on strategic tax initiatives.

The role requires strong analytical and communication skills, experience in construction and manufacturing tax contexts, and the ability to drive automation and internal controls in a hybrid Saint George, SC office

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years in sales/use tax, payroll tax, or state & local tax.
• Strong knowledge of multi-state tax regulations and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Research and apply multi-state sales and use tax laws across jurisdictions.
• Analyze transactions and prepare use tax accruals using data from ERP systems.
• Review contracts, exemption certificates, and docs to determine proper tax treatment.
• Prepare reconciliations for payroll tax, sales tax, use tax, and GL accounts.
• Support tax audits by gathering documents and defending positions with evidence.
