Job summary

Wipfli is actively seeking a Tax Manager to lead and manage complex tax engagements for high-net-worth clients. The role includes acting as the main client contact, ensuring timely service, and guiding staff through technical reviews and provision work.

The ideal candidate has a CPA, 5+ years of tax experience, and a strong public accounting background. You will contribute to firm initiatives, stay current on tax developments, and mentor junior staff in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelors Degree in Accounting or equivalent.
• CPA certification required in the state of practice.
• 5+ years of tax-related experience.
• High Net Worth tax experience required.
• Public accounting experience desired.
• Management/mentoring experience with staff.
• Subject matter leader in tax services.
• Experience advising management on tax matters.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage tax compliance engagements within budget and deadline expectations.
• Plan and schedule tax engagements with clients and firm resources.
• Serve as the main tax contact within the firm for clients.
• Provide proactive communication and timely service to clients.
• Review tax work papers, provision calculations, and tax returns.
• Communicate with clients and engagement partners on status and opportunities.
• Provide training and supervision to staff and senior accountants.
• Participate in and lead firm initiatives and projects.
• Maintain technical tax expertise across relevant industries.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent

CPA certification required in applicable state

5+ years of tax-related experience

High Net Worth tax experience

Public accounting experience

Mentoring staff

Topic leadership in tax services

Experience making recommendations to management
