Job summary

Wipfli is seeking a Senior Tax Manager in Madison, WI to lead key client relationships within the Construction Practice, delivering strategic tax and business advisory services. You will guide complex engagements, manage multi-state responsibilities, and drive growth for the practice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA required.
  • 10+ years of public accounting tax experience, including significant experience serving construction industry clients.
  • Strong technical expertise in construction accounting, pass-through taxation, long-term contract accounting, and multi-state taxation.
  • Proven ability to manage complex client relationships and serve as a strategic advisor to business owners and executives.
  • Demonstrated success developing talent, leading teams, and driving client and practice growth.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and business development skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to construction clients, providing strategic tax planning, consulting, and business advisory services.
  • Lead complex tax engagements for contractors, developers, and related entities, including multi-state compliance, long-term contract accounting, and entity structuring.
  • Proactively identify tax-saving opportunities and provide guidance on emerging tax legislation and industry trends.
  • Manage and expand key client relationships, ensuring exceptional service and long-term partnership.
  • Drive business development efforts by identifying growth opportunities, participating in industry networking, and supporting proposal and prospect activities.
  • Collaborate across service lines to deliver integrated solutions that address clients' business and tax needs.
  • Provide oversight of engagement quality, risk management, profitability, and timely delivery.
  • Mentor and develop managers, seniors, and staff while fostering a high-performing, collaborative team culture.
  • Contribute to practice growth initiatives, talent development, and the overall success of Wipfli's Construction Practice.
