Katz, Sapper & Miller, LLP is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to lead complex engagements in real estate partnership taxation and related individual and trust work. You will mentor staff, manage large client accounts, and serve as a trusted advisor to deliver high‑quality tax consulting and compliance services.

You will oversee engagement execution, maintain strong client relationships, and actively promote firm capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting is required.
  • CPA credential is required.
  • Minimum of 8 years in public accounting.
  • Experience providing tax services to real estate partnerships is required.
  • Experience with individual (Form 1040) and trust (Form 1041) taxation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and review of complex real estate partnership tax returns while remaining actively involved in technical tax matters.
  • Mentor, train, and develop Senior Associates and Associates with hands-on coaching.
  • Manage partnership engagements that may include Form 1040 and Form 1041 returns.
  • Provide leadership and management of the office, including staff supervision.
  • Articulate and position the full spectrum of KSM services to clients and execs.
  • Build professional relationships and networks with clients and prospects.
  • Act as trusted advisor to meet clients' accounting, tax, and advisory needs.
  • Develop new business opportunities and expand service offerings.
  • Manage large, complex accounts and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Maintain knowledge of firm philosophy and professional standards across engagements.
  • Stay informed about economic and legislative trends affecting clients.

Position Summary

The Senior Tax Manager will serve as a leader within KSM's Tax practice, managing complex client engagements while mentoring and developing staff. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in partnership taxation, particularly within the real estate industry, as well as individual tax planning, consulting, and compliance. This individual will lead the execution of multiple client engagements, oversee client service, and demonstrate the leadership, technical expertise, and ownership needed to support both clients and team members.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the preparation and review of complex real estate partnership tax returns while remaining actively involved in technical tax matters.
  • Mentor, train, and develop Senior Associates and Associates by providing hands-on coaching throughout the tax preparation and review process.
  • Manage partnership engagements that may include related individual (Form 1040) and trust (Form 1041) tax returns.
  • Provide leadership and management of the office, including administration, supervision of staff and other day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Articulate and position full spectrum of KSM services and solutions to potential customers and key executive decision makers.
  • Focus on relationship-building by establishing and maintaining appropriate professional networks.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic insights and solutions to meet their accounting, tax, and advisory needs.
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships, developing new business opportunities and expanding service offerings.
  • Manage large, complex accounts and ensure exceptional client satisfaction.
  • Possess a complete knowledge of the Firm's philosophy on financial, tax, and consulting matters, work quality and application of professional and Firm standards.
  • Maintain contact with clients throughout the year; possesses a thorough knowledge of the client and all facets of client's business.
  • Plan, schedule, and staff engagements using firm policies and procedures.
  • Communicate progress of engagements, problems and resolutions to client through written and oral correspondences.
  • Maintain knowledge of general economic and political trends of possible tax or other legislation that could affect the business climate.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in public accounting
  • Experience providing tax services to real estate partnerships required.
  • Experience with individual (Form 1040) and trust (Form 1041) taxation preferred.
  • Demonstrated success building and managing client relationships
