Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager to lead the tax function for a complex, multi-entity agricultural and real estate organization.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of the tax function—not simply manage a client list. You’ll lead a small tax team, oversee compliance, support tax planning, and work alongside outside CPA consultants on complex technical matters.

What You’ll Do
  • Review complex federal and California returns for partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, LLCs, and trusts.
  • Manage the tax compliance calendar and ensure filing deadlines are met.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a small tax team.
  • Partner with outside CPA consultants on technical tax matters.
  • Prepare the annual ASC 740 tax provision and maintain deferred tax balances.
  • Manage IRS, FTB, and CDTFA notices and examinations through resolution.
  • Identify tax planning opportunities involving entity structure, Section 1031 exchanges, credits and incentives, and multi-year cash tax projections.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting the organization.
  • Provide tax guidance and analysis to management and ownership.
What We’re Looking For
  • Active CPA license.
  • 6+ years of progressive tax experience.
  • Strong pass-through tax expertise, including partnership allocations, basis, Section 704(c), Section 754, and Section 163(j).
  • Previous supervisory experience, including reviewing staff work and developing team members.
  • Current PTIN or eligibility to obtain one before the first filing season.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Valid California driver's license and clean driving record may be required.
Preferred Experience

Agriculture, agribusiness, or real estate tax experience is a strong plus.

Experience with Section 263A pre-productive costs, cooperative patronage, and California tax conformity differences is also preferred.

Industry-specific training will be provided to the right technical candidate.

The Opportunity

If you have built significant technical depth in pass-through taxation and are ready to own a sophisticated tax function, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while leading a team and partnering directly with management and ownership.
